John Sittema
President, WorldServe USA
A NOTE FROM OUR PRESIDENT
I have the honor of serving as the new President & CEO of WorldServe Ministries in the United States. I first was exposed to this organization in 2004, and God has continually increased my love for the ministry with added travel and exposure to the pastors and to the work of the Lord in restricted-access areas.
Needless to say, joining WorldServe is an exciting extension of my Kingdom service, and I’m thrilled to help craft the organization’s ministry and vision in such times of opportunity, challenge and change.
My background has been in local church ministry, having served as a Senior Pastor for some 36 years. During that time, I’ve been especially involved in education and leadership training. I have served as Visiting or Adjunct Professor of Ministerial Studies in two seminaries, and have published books in this area. This training emphasis in my own history is already proving to serve me well at WorldServe – and I believe it will make us more responsive to the urgent plea from churches in restricted-access areas.
The request we hear over and over is for more Biblical, theological, and pastoral training. Indigenous church leaders want to protect it from theological error, disunity and division. Such are the same challenges that the Apostle Paul addressed in his letters to the FirstCentury churches.
At WorldServe, we are crafting dynamic and effective strategies to help the church in her task, with a commitment to ministry effectiveness and accountability. In fact, we believe it is “job one.” You can be sure that any dollars you prayerfully invest for the work of Christ will be used faithfully, efficiently, and with maximum accountability.
I wish to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Ted Yamamori, who passed on the President & CEO baton to me in March 2011. Ted is a good friend and continues to add much value to our ministry as President Emeritus. A new passion has been awakened in Ted’s heart. It involves exciting gospel possibilities in one of the most restricted areas of the world for Christians, which I won’t mention here for security reasons – so please pray for him and his continued ministry.
I look forward to continually sharing about WorldServe projects and their impact as we advance the gospel and impact nations – so please take a moment to ensure that we have your email address so that we can continue to be in contact.
