WorldServe launches India Ministry

unevangelized

WorldServe's primary mission has always been to locate indigenous leaders in religiously intolerant countries that seek to spread the gospel despite religious persecution and to help them bring their God-inspired visions to fruition. I am excited to announce that WorldServe started a new endeavor in August 2011 in India where poverty, culture and religious extremism is part of everyday life for millions. So why did we feel called to India?

First, the map included here shows that the largest populations of unreached people groups and unevangelized persons reside in the global epicenter anchored by China and India. That is enough in itself to make the region a WorldServe priority. Add to that the fact that by 2020, India is projected to have the world's largest national population and you have even greater incentive. The country is 81% Hindu, 13% Muslim and only 2.3% Christian.

Second, India is a restricted area of the globe where the gospel is opposed. The Hindu and Muslim persecution of practicing Christians is brutal and repressive. Many are murdered for following Jesus. Two Muslim women of the original church of 17 persons converted to Christ by our ministry partners disappeared, never to reappear. Add to that the physical, emotional, and family persecution that Christians experience in these radical Hindu and Muslim communities in India, and you will agree that Christians in India face incredible restrictions and persecution for their faith.

Third, our primary partner is a network of village churches reaching the hardest to reach areas of India. Their core strategy is evangelism and church planting efforts through compassion ministry to the most vulnerable. By loving and caring for street children, abandoned women, and marginalized agricultural workers. Our partners model a community of faith that is winsome and draws people to the gospel. The gospel that they see provides a framework for the gospel they will hear! Over 230 village churches have already been planted by our ministry partner. With your help, we’re praying for thousands more!

History tells us that it only takes one spark to light the fire of a thousand hearts. Together we can help set India alight with the fire of God’s love!

WorldServe Ministries serves the indigenous church in restricted-access areas of the world. WorldServe comes alongside indigenous leaders and church networks God has already raised up in-country to help accelerate their Kingdom impact through strategic partnerships. WorldServe is strategically partnering with India for Christ Ministries (IFCM) to accelerate the Kingdom impact they are having on marginalized villages and ostracized peoples with proven, tested outreach and church planting strategies. IFCM works in restricted-access areas of southern India and neighboring countries through its growing network of 230+ churches in 9 states, with a heart for “Teaching, Preaching the Word of God and Multiplying Disciples.”
